For over 37 years, Mount Carmel Catholic College has acted as a sanctuary for learning and growth. It has acted as a ground where the minds of students are inspired and foundations of individual potential are built. As the College Captains for 2025, we, Seirasa and Sophie, aim to continue a tradition of contributing towards the wider school community and furthering it as a place of encouragement, guidance and kindness. We seek to embark on this journey of leadership, with the help and support of our dependable and highly capable Student Representative Council team, we hope to make a lasting, positive impact to the growth of this Christ-centred community that we are all privileged to be a part of.
Community lies at the very core of our identity and purpose as leaders. In a world that has endured profound disruptions and separations, we stand with a renewed commitment to rebuild the connections that bind us as one family at Mount Carmel Catholic College. Our collective theme for 2025, “Together as one, hand in hand”, is not merely a statement; it is a heartfelt call to action. It is our invitation for each of us to embrace unity, to seek understanding, and to weave a tapestry of shared respect, purpose, and belonging.
It is often said that the true mark of a Mount Carmel student lies not in their accolades but in the values they embody and the legacy they leave behind. At Mount Carmel Catholic College, we are called to walk in truth, to be relentless in our pursuit of excellence, and to live as models of Christ’s servant leadership. Mount Carmel students are resilient, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Facing obstacles with courage, knowing that perseverance is not the absence of struggle but the will to rise above it. They approach life with curiosity, engaging fully in their education, relationships, and the broader community. They recognise that leadership extends beyond titles—it is reflected in everyday actions that inspire and uplift those around them. We are guided by the Marist values of simplicity, presence, and family spirit. Reminding us that our role is not to stand apart but to walk beside, and that to lead is to serve.
As the Student Representative Council, each of us embraces our roles with a deep sense of responsibility and pride, united by the common purpose of serving the Mount Carmel Catholic College community. As College Captains, we are driven by the vision of fostering a school environment where every student feels valued and empowered, rooted in compassion, aiming to uplift and unite through collaboration and example. Vice Captains Laylah and Mateo bring a dynamic synergy to their roles, embodying inclusivity and dedication, ensuring every voice is heard and celebrated. Jessica and Isaac, as Academic Captains, approach their responsibilities with intellectual curiosity and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Sport Captains Harry and Laylah embody resilience and camaraderie, striving to cultivate a spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm that inspires participation and pride in our College’s athletic endeavours. Elijah and Azura, as Spirituality Captains, dedicate themselves to nurturing the faith life of Mount Carmel, ensuring Christ’s presence is felt in every aspect of our community. Rebecca and Onyx, as Social Justice and Environmental Captains, passionately advocate for a better, more compassionate world. Hannah and Mateo, as Hospitality and Cultural Captains, work tirelessly to celebrate diversity and create a welcoming environment at the College. We approach our portfolio with a shared belief in the transformative power of leadership and service.
Therefore, on behalf of the 2025 SRC, we pledge to lead Mount Carmel Catholic College with conviction and grace. We carry forward the legacy of those who came before us and commit to creating a culture of hope, inclusion, and opportunity. Our vision is not one of fleeting impact but of lasting change—a community united by shared purpose and driven by the values that define us. Together as one, hand in hand, we step boldly into a year of transformation, ready to leave a mark on the College we are proud to call home.
